The Eastern Washington town of Winthrop is a must-see destination for anyone interested in the history and culture of the American frontier. And with this tour, you can explore the town at your own pace, taking in all the sights and sounds that make this place so unique.
Our tour begins with a two-night stay at the best available resort in the area. With comfortable lodging and all the amenities you need, you can relax and unwind before setting out to explore the town.
The next morning, you can start your tour by visiting the historic Main Street of Winthrop. Here you’ll see buildings from the late 1800s, including the old bank, the jail, and the saloon. You can take your time strolling down the street, reading the historical markers, and imagining what life was like in the days of the American West.
Next, a must-see is the Winthrop Barn, a restored barn that now serves as a museum and cultural center. Inside, you’ll find exhibits on the history of the area, including the local Native American tribes and the early settlers who came to the region.
After the barn, you can visit the Winthrop Rodeo Grounds, where you can see cowboys and cowgirls compete in traditional rodeo events like bull riding and barrel racing. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to catch a live rodeo during your visit!
In the afternoon, you can take in the beautiful views of the Methow Valley’s mountains and river, or stop at a local winery for a tasting, and then finish the day with a BBQ dinner at a local restaurant.
On your second day, you can head to the nearby North Cascades National Park for a hike through the mountains. With towering peaks and cascading waterfalls, this is the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the area.
After your hike, you can head back to Winthrop for a visit to the local artisan shops. Here you can find handcrafted gifts and souvenirs, such as pottery, jewelry, and wood carvings.
