Winthrop , WA Tour
Our Winthrop Tour starts in Bellingham. Heading East on State Route 20 through the Cascade Mountain Range. Dubbed “The most beautiful highway in Washington”. Among the sights are waterfalls, lakes, and The Skagit River Hydroelectric Project which provides more than 80% of Seattle’s electricity.
The roadway through these mountains was established in 1896 as a wagon route. The wagon road fell into disuse within a decade, and the state government postponed the construction of a new route across the North Cascades for several decades.
Once we arrive in Winthrop, you’ll have many activities to choose from. Relaxing on your room’s balcony with a birdseye view of the surrounding mountains and the Methow valley below. Explore the area on the many hiking trails weaving among the wildflowers and glacier-carved rock formations. Nearby lakes have fishing and boat rentals for the angler. A must is to take a stroll in town and enjoy the many artisan shops and eateries available.
This tour is 3 days/2 nights.
Travel time is about 3.5 hrs from Bellingham to Winthrop.
Available May through October.
